There’s so much broken in the world. There’s no denying that.
I don’t know about you but it can be easy to focus on all that’s wrong around us.
Yes, things are bad. But we don’t have to choose to dwell on that.
This verse has come alive for me as I’ve studied positive psychology. “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Phil 4:8:)
When we choose to focus on the good, it’s not a matter of denying reality or somehow only wearing rose-colored glasses.
For me it’s a matter of focus.
It’s too easy to miss what’s good, what’s working, what’s redemptive, because of a negativity-bias (and we all have it).
Here’s an antidote to our negativity bias.
